What to Expect
Since its founding in 1899, Holy Trinity has continued to be a place of faithful worship, open doors and outreach to both Clemson students and the broader university and city communities. Grounded in tradition and alive with new energy, we seek to love with the heart of Christ, think with the mind of Christ, and act in the world as the Body of Christ. Here's what you can expect when you join us for worship:
Come as You Are
We don't have a dress code, so come as you are. We will provide you with materials to follow along, so you don't have to worry about getting lost during worship. Also, please feel free to ask anyone wearing a name tag to help you if you get lost—we’ve all been there and are happy to help!
The Holy Eucharist
When we celebrate Holy Eucharist, all baptized Christians are invited to participate, regardless of age. If you are not baptized and would like to explore the Sacrament of inclusion into God’s household, the church, please speak to our priest. Our worship follows ancient patterns of reading Scripture, praying for the church, the world, and the concerns of our worshiping community. We use prayers and hymns from all times in the history of Christian worship. While our worship is traditional, we also make space for the Holy Spirit to speak and work through us in real time.
All the little children
Yes, we include your children. They are an important part of the life of our congregation. Your children are welcome in our worship services at any time. We love their energy and their presence as part of our worship. We also have options for them to learn about God’s love in age-appropriate settings. We have a nursery for children under 4 years. We offer a Children’s Liturgy of the Word for children ages 3 to 3rd grade. The children gather in our Parish Hall for the Liturgy of the Word and join us for Holy Communion. On the first Sunday of most months our principal service at 10:30 is designed with children in mind. There is a shorter Liturgy of the Word (reading scripture and praying together). The sermon on that day is a brief children’s message, and our children’s choir generally provides a musical offering, as well.
Parking
You can enter our property either from Old Greenville Hwy or from Addison Lane off College Ave. There are 4 primary parking areas available for use on Sundays. The first you will encounter is accessible from either entry point—it is adjacent to our pavilion and greenspace. There is another lot accessible from Addison Lane and is the best option for those who have mobility issues, so we generally try to reserve those spots for them. This upper lot is located just past the elevated playground on Addison Lane and provides an accessibility ramp. Other options are the University owned spaces along the front of the church property facing Old Greenville Hwy or the parking lot adjacent to Gentry Hall. These spaces are available after 5pm on weekdays and on the weekends.
